What actually happened
At the Q3 2025 call Musk called the Cybercab 'the single biggest expansion in production,' starting Q2 2026, then on the Q4 2025 call (Jan 28, 2026) narrowed it to 'production starts in April.' Cybercab production did begin at Giga Texas in April 2026 (first unit Feb 17; continuous start confirmed on the Q1 2026 earnings call, Apr 23). As of mid-July 2026 it is still a pilot ramp — 245 finished units were staged in Giga Texas outbound lots by July 18 (up from ~102 on June 14, ~4 cars/day added), and reports say suppliers were directed to reach 1,000 units/week by September, but no mass/'biggest expansion' volume-production rate has actually been reported yet (EVXL, Jul 19 2026). Graded partial: production started roughly on schedule, but the promised scale has not arrived. Tesla now lists installed annual Cybercab capacity above 125,000 units (~2,400/week at full utilization), but that is nameplate capacity, not a reported output rate; the actual line remains in ramp.
