Musk promised a no-touch LA-to-NYC full-autonomy demonstration by end of 2017, with the car parking itself at the end. Tesla never performed that demo. Eight years past the deadline, consumers finally did the substance of it on FSD v14: David Moss completed the first zero-disengagement coast-to-coast run (LA to Myrtle Beach, Dec 30 2025), and on Jan 22 2026 Alex Roy's team drove the literal LA-to-NYC Cannonball route — 3,081 miles, zero interventions, through winter snow and ice. Scored PARTIAL, not delivered: the runs used FSD (Supervised) with a licensed driver in the seat, humans plugged in at every charging stop, and the demo Musk actually promised — an unsupervised Tesla with no one needed at the wheel — has still never happened. TeslaNorth — Tesla FSD just drove from L.A. to NYC with zero help (Jan 22 2026 Roy run) ↗
