At Autonomy Day on April 22, 2019 Musk said Tesla would have over a million robotaxis on the road by 2020. There were zero Tesla robotaxis on the road in 2020. Tesla only launched a small geofenced robotaxi pilot (about ten Model Ys, with an in-car safety monitor) in Austin on June 22, 2025 — far short of one million and over five years late.
