Said in SpaceX's June 8 2026 technical talk on manufacturing/launching AI satellites at scale; Musk prefaced the projection 'people should take this with a grain of salt... this is not a promise of what we'll do.' 'By the end of next year' from a June 2026 statement = end of 2027.
In a June 8, 2026 SpaceX technical talk on building and launching AI satellites at scale (the Gigasat/Starmind orbital data-center effort), Musk said SpaceX aims to reach an annualized rate of one gigawatt per year of space-based AI compute by the end of 2027, then aspirationally scale that by an order of magnitude per year (10 GW/yr in ~2.5 years, ~100 GW/yr in ~3.5 years). The target depends on Starship launch cadence and mass-produced AI1 compute satellites.
