Tap Controls > Self-Driving > Full Self-Driving (Supervised), accept the agreements, then tap Start Self-Driving under 85 mph (Tesla, checked 31 Oct 2026). The option only appears once the car has FSD: a $99/mo subscription, a trial or an old purchase.

Tesla notes that controls differ by model and year; the Owner's Manual on the car (Controls > Service > Owner's Manual) has the version for yours. FSD (Supervised) is an advanced driver assistance system that is intended to be used only with a fully attentive driver. It does not turn a Tesla into a fully autonomous vehicle.

Our referral link gives a one-month FSD (Supervised) trial in the Tesla app. We get a Tesla credit too if you subscribe after it. Full Self-Driving (Supervised) requires the driver to remain attentive and does not make the vehicle autonomous.
On the touchscreen tap Controls > Self-Driving > Full Self-Driving (Supervised) and accept the user agreements. Then, below 85 mph, tap Start Self-Driving. The car needs an active FSD subscription, trial or purchase, and the latest software.
Why can't I see the FSD option?
Usually the car has no active FSD (Supervised) or hasn't installed the update yet. Check Controls > Software for "Full Self Driving Capability" and install any waiting update. Features also vary by hardware, region, model and year.
How do I know if my Tesla has FSD?
Tesla: open Controls > Software and look for "Full Self Driving Capability" in the included package, and "Full Self-Driving (Supervised) Software" under Software.
How do I turn off FSD while driving?
Press the brake pedal or take over the steering. If your car has them, pushing the gear stalk up or pressing the right scroll wheel also works.
Why was my FSD suspended?
Three or five strikeouts (depending on the car) suspend FSD (Supervised) for a week; a strikeout is forgiven after half a week without another. Controls > Self-Driving shows how many strikeouts are left.
